Privacy Policy
pdfli is a browser-based PDF viewer. Your PDF files are never uploaded to any server — everything is processed locally in your browser. This policy explains the limited data we do collect and why.
Data we collect
We collect anonymous usage analytics to understand how pdfli is used and to improve the product. This includes standard information such as pages visited, referrer URLs, browser type, operating system, and approximate geographic region (country/city level). We do not collect names, email addresses, or any personally identifiable information.
Your PDF files
PDF files you open via the file picker are loaded entirely in-memory inside your browser and are never transmitted to our servers. PDFs loaded via URL are fetched through our proxy only to work around CORS restrictions; we do not log, store, or process the content of those files.
Analytics
We use Google Analytics (GA4) to collect aggregate page-view and interaction data. Google may set cookies or use similar technologies on your device. You can opt out at any time by installing the Google Analytics opt-out browser add-on.
Advertising
We may display ads served by Google AdSense. Google uses cookies to serve ads based on your prior visits to this and other websites. You can opt out of personalised advertising by visiting Google Ads Settings.
Cookies
We use only the cookies set by the third-party services described above (Google Analytics and Google AdSense). We do not set any first-party tracking cookies ourselves. Your browser settings allow you to block or delete all cookies at any time.
Third-party services
Beyond analytics and advertising, we use Vercel Analytics for performance and web vitals monitoring (anonymised, no cookies). We do not sell, rent, or share your data with any other third parties.
Data retention
Analytics data retained by Google is governed by Google's own retention policies. Vercel Analytics data is retained per Vercel's data retention policies. We do not maintain any independent database of user data.
Your rights
Depending on your location, you may have rights under applicable privacy law (e.g. GDPR, CCPA) to access, correct, or delete data held about you. Because we hold no personal data ourselves, any such requests should be directed to the relevant third-party services listed above.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. The "Last updated" date at the top of this page will reflect the most recent revision. Continued use of pdfli after a change constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
